Apply effects to CC Sphere source?

Title is quite explanatory, I'm trying to apply effects to a source, which is used with the CC Sphere effect.

The reason behind this is to try and remove the lines where the video repeats on the sphere, buy using copious amounts of blur.

I am trying to recreate a ball spinning on the ground, and figure that edge refraction of the sphere can be done by using blue effects, and possibly another distortion effect.

Any ideas?
