Effect Opacity on Lumetri Color stops working if I keyframe it, but works without keyframes?

Hi all, new to forums.

I'm using AE2017.2 and windows 10. I have a comp with two video tracks (track 1 and 2) that i combined into a single track on another timeline, when it cuts from track 1 to track 2 I want to remove the color correction I did to track one and then apply a new color effect to the same track in the new timeline when the new shot comes in. I can use effect opacity 100%-0% and it does what it's supposed to (removes the color correction), but if I try to keyframe it doesn't work at all. It's super weird...

Pics below are sort of hard to see but I'll try to elaborate on em. The part of the preview we're looking at is the top left panel with the dude drinking a beer. Top pic you can see the effect opacity is at 0%. The keyframe on either side of the playhead is 0%, the two outside of those are 100%. The effect is NOT going to 0% when it says it should. Without the color it looks like it does in the bottom pic, much brighter, which I produced by turning off the effect entirely by clicking the little "fx" on the far left of it. It's a dynamically linked premiere clip, which might matter, but the only effects are done right here in this misbehaving AE timeline. I'm at a loss, I can get it to look like the bottom pic if I delete all keyframes from Effect Opacity by clicking the stopwatch then set it to 0%, but then the rest of the clip is uncolored and unusable. PLEASE SEND HELP!

Quick edit: I did end up getting what I needed done by doing the color correction to each separate track in the other timeline they originate from, but this problem had me scratching my head and I'd hate for it to come up again in a more frustrating way.
