Plug in path "Unknown Exception"

Hi all,

I'm using the Open Color IO plug in from fnord software. I'm getting some issues that I don't think are plug in specific, so I wanted to check in here (as well as over at fnordware).

A year ago I started a shot in AE 2017 and upgraded to AE 2018 and finished the show. I was on the same back and the paths in the configuration were the same and it all worked just fine.

Today, I tried to open the scene in AE 2018 and got an "Unknown Exception" error. The scene wouldn't open at all. I tried to import the scene into a black AE and the information came in, but nothing in the interface would update. it's like I blew a memory buffer, but I really don't know.

The plug in is good as I tested importing footage, apply the plug in, path to a .cc file and everything works, so I know that the tech is not bad.

I still have some shots on the show that were done completely in 2017 and can open them in 2017, but since I'm on a new different machine from last year, the paths to the .cc LUT files are different. When I relink to the new path, the scene works exactly as expected! When I open that 2017 into 2018 it works appropriately.

So, near as I can tell, the path method in the OCIO plug is what is throwing the Exception. It seems like fnord is using a methodology that could be smarter so as not to throw the exception and it would be good to recommend that to them. This also brings up another possibly wider conversation as to how this information might be collected with "Collected Files..." when it comes time to delivering to another vendor or for archiving.

So with all that, does anyone have any recommendations how I might be able to get a plugin that is calling a path so as to not throw an exception?

Any input would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
