Trim Path Problem

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this.

I drew a few bodies in illustrator (pen tool > the lines are a stroke, brush definition is basic and with a variable width profile). I imported the drawing in AE because I wanted to make an animation where the lines slowly seem to be drawn on the screen — if that makes any sense.

I did the 'create shapes from vector layer' and then 'add > trim paths'. But when I adjust the keyframes from the trim paths the animation doesn't follow the lines that I drew, but it makes a weird fill effect. (See screenshot!) Does anybody know how to solve this? Or are there any other ways to achieve this effect (maybe even with the gradient stroke from the original drawing)?

Thanks in advance!
