I'm on a:

MAC - Mac pro late 2013 / 3.5 GHz 6-core intel xeon E5 / 16 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC

OS 10.11.3 (EL CAPITAN)

Running creative cloud 2015 cc (most recent updates)

 

Have been running into error "Cached Preview needs 2 or more frames to playback" for awhile now.  I usually check in preferences my cache and media and purge if necessary.  That seemed to help up until the past day-- nothing seems to get rid of the error and I cannot playback my animations at all--big problem.

 

I'm also getting a new error 'fresh layer cache checkout failed'.

 

After being unable to remedy I downloaded AE CC(2014) and am able to play the animation.  Makes me think this is a bug in the latest CC download.  Is there a remedy?

so It crashed and crashed again about 20 times over last couple of days,

 

I had the latest version and to make sure its not an update issue I installed previous version, unfortunately it continues crashing,

 

I start AE and then after a minute it either disappears or I lose control,  -  does not react to mouse clicks/freezes (although the sound continues and then everything disappears).

 

no popups no windows alert - just disappears,

I've got a Wave Warp that animates at a Speed of -5, right to left. It only works for 615 frames, then sits there motionless. This happens in CS3 and CS4. What am I doing wrong? :)

I am trying to animate some masks and getting some results I do not understand.  For one the masks are not behaving accurately.  That's to say even with the mask expansion set to 0, no feather, etc the mask seems "offset".   I decided to animate the mask expansion along with the path to try get around this rather than understand it but suddenly the mask expansion property would stop working.  If I deleted the keyframes and and messed around it would start working again but as soon as I started to set key frames it seems to freeze up.

I am trying to set the key frames only a frame apart.  Could that be causing the freak out? Hopefully the video illustrates what I'm saying

Hi all - Somewhat of an AE newbie, I'm a video editor used to FCP/Avid/Premiere.

 

My question is that I'm working on a slideshow project and using a template for parts of it to spice it up - https://www.pond5.com/after-effect/52141595/dynamic-slideshow.html#2   (see demo video to see what I'm talking about)

 

What I can't figure out is how to get rid of the transparent circles and color effect that goes over the whole timeline/composition - I've even tried deleting every layer except the one that has my photos on it (a new layer I created). It seems there is a hidden or built-in preset overlay and can't figure out how to access it to edit/remove.

 

Thoughts? Thanks in advance

Hello,

i installed new ae cc 2015.

ram render is way faster in some conditions, but i find audio preview really slow :

 

when i press "." to listen just audio, or even "0" or "spacebar", preview start, but audio start few seconds later.

So i can determine pricesly the time when a can i hear a beat, like on cc 2014 version. I find that as a major problem in motion design.

 

And when i press ".", for audio only preview, there is a delay, then it's starts to play, but sound can be heard just few seconds later, but it works well in cc 2014.

the only way is to change option :

but in that case, audio is always on, when it is not real time.

 

 

Lats thing, on cc 2014, when i preview audio only, then stop, it comes back to the start point. Now it stops where it stops. Not practical.

Any way to change it in options ?

 

 

But well, if it correct one day, maybe just newt year, as the stereo effect problem has been correct in one year.

I am working on a slideshow that has 100 pictures that are sequenced one after the other (3.5 seconds for each picture) with some of them doubled up (2 pictures on the screen at the same time).  I would like to have each of them scale from 65% to 75% within 15 frames and using the curves so that it is faster in the beginning then slows down.  Can I create a null object that contains that scaling parameter with those keyframes and parent those 80 pictures?  Will the keyframes from the null translate to the individual pictures at their in-points (i.e. frame 1 of each picture starts at 65% and frame 15 of each picture gets to 75%)?  I think this would be much easier then bringing all those pictures back to the same starting point, changing the scaling, then re-sequencing them on the timeline.  Thanks...

Hi Ok so I am working on a little personal project I have found a 3D model of this car for free online and in Cinema 4D I have tracked some Live action Footage and placed this car in the scene and want to animate it. I have exported a few frames just to see how I can make it all blend better together in AE using Levels Hue and Saturation lens blur... but so far I was not able to get a good result, Pic 1 is the original frame exported from C4D and pic 2 is the one that has some Post effects on in in AE. Someone please tell how can I make the car blend better in the scene......???? THX very much in advance

I precomped some type, then added the precomp to my main comp, where I scaled it over a range of frames (963% to 100%). Motion blur ON, and continuous rasterize ON.

 

In the preview window, the last blurred frame remains "held" after the last/ending keyframe, whether scrubbing, stopped on later frames, or with playback of Full Screen RAM preview.

 

This only occurs when the Resolution is set to Full. Other settings (Auto/Half/Third/Quarter) render the preview correctly.

Having read through many discussions ranging from the same to somewhat similar problem within After Effects CS6, I am posing my own question in anticipation of some helpful advice or possible solutions. Listed below are all the technical details regarding my computer and it's problemtatic messages.

 

I regularly use AE and have never received such warnings.

I have checked and verified that the files noted in the error messages are in the containing folders.

I have since updated all pertinent software to no avail.

I am working on a text typing animation and have found the Typewriter preset and the Type-on_Text_Preset to be invaluable.  What is need is to take the finished text and either backspace each letter to delete the entire sentence, move the curser back and delete a single word, or highlight the entire sentence and run a new new sentence animation.

 

I've looked everywhere and of course I'm on deadline and can't wrap my head around creating it.

Update to this...

 

AFter a very nice Adobe tech support person guided me in the right direction to AE troubleshooting techniques I was able to get the HWaccelerate box to re-appear (trashed the prefs and it came back) Wether or not it helped was another story but at least I knew how to repair it. Anyhow worked all day, went home and came back this morning to find an error message "After Effects: Hardware accelerated view have been disabled because they are not compatible with remote desktop." We had not run remote desktop, all I know is due to financial mandates we have to have a screen saver that locks the computer after 10 minutes of inactivity, and the minute the machine locks, I lose HW acceleration. Now yes I could run a program to stop the screensaver, but that would be against the financial laws of the company for a public company so it's not an option. So is there an actual fix for this?

Wondered if anyone can guide me in the right direction, here's the story...

 

Company got me the swankiest Dell precision t7400;
XP64
Dual Quad Cores
With a Quadro FX 5600
and two dell 22" monitors
etc.

 

Anyhow, I have to run three monitors, so we were going to add my old Quadro FX 1700, but it's an AGP card, and no slot on the t7400...so we bought a new Geforce FX 5200 and slapped it in a PCI slot...not the best solution, but it works...two 5600's are too costly and there's only one PCI-E slot as far as I know.

 

In any case, it's not really performing as well as I think it should. I primarily run After Effects, and the box to turn on HW accelerate comps in the prefs is greyed out. OpenGL works very poorly and when I drag through my timeline (W/O OpenGL, just Adaptive Res) the image pixelates to point were I can't really see it. I am runiing AE on the two Dells on the 5600 (1680x1050 x 2) and using the 5200 to power a third monitor (1366x768 - only res I can use due to the animations I am creating are displayed on the monitor as the end product) showing the comp.

 

Any ideas to improve the performance?

I am running script file in after effects CS6. As you can see in the picture, my script file named "Framemotion_sports.jsxbin"

To run the script file in after effects, I go: File->Scripts->Run script file. Then I chose the file "Framemotion_sports.jsxbin"

As the script file runs, I click "load competition" to load CPT files (for example, Barclays Premier League.cpt). However, when I re-edit or modify, I could not "save as" the file. ( as you can see, "what.cpt" file = 0KB!!!)

I appreciate if anyone can help. I am amateur so please tell me in the basic way that I could understand. Thanks for helping.

I just opened up 2015 to do some trouble shooting on a third party plugin I just purchased.   The same exact file which took about 10 seconds to cache and played back real time in 2014 would not even even reach THREE FPS!! in 2015 even after it was fully cached.  What an embarrassment.

After Effects CC 2014.2 takes forever to open and creates a new Adobe folder in users/username/AppData/Roaming with an After Effects preference folder in there everytime AE is opened. I had an extra Adobe folder for every time it was opened all the way back to January!? The extra folders usually have some random symbol or square in front of the name "Adobe". I deleted them all and changed the Read/Write Permissions on the main Adobe folder to Read/Write from Read. Seemed to solve the problem only temporarily. Now it's doing it again. Any way to stop this, fix it, or explain it?

 

Also in general since we purchased this workstation from BOXX the performance in AE has been rather sluggish and disappointing. Interface seems to drag, previews seem slower, and sliding the playhead for adaptive preview feels much more sluggish than lesser systems in the building.

 

Specs are: Dual Xeon 2687W v3 with 40 cores

                 128GB of memory

                 3xTITAN Blacks

                 RAID 1 SSD boot drives

                 Dedicated SSD for caching

                 RAID 5 Media array running at 1600MBs

Hello,

 

I have some professionally made videos on a couple of DVDs and that is the only source I have..

I have used the Adobes detail-preserve upscale plugins many times with quite some amazing results but usually I only use it to upscale the footage where the resolution is lower than other footages in my project. The plugin was obviously designed for just that.

 

I just wanted your opinions if you think whether applying the plugin to my entire DVD and upscaling it to 4K BluRay is worth the effort?

I mean will be quality be considerably better than my DVD player's hardware upscaling to 4K?

 

I have the CPU power, time and resources for the task including authorising the BluRay so please don't go into that area..

Hello,

I have Adobe After Effects CS6.

I have been trying to get an audio spectrum added to my videos for a long time, i always manage to do that, but the problem is that i can not render the video(RAM preview), it stops about half way through and starts playing the video from the beginning: http://prntscr.com/bdh0ra . It always renders about 3000 frames and just quits in middle for no reason, even if i try again i get same results, the tutorial i have been following: After Effects: Audio Spectrum Tutorial - YouTube . I did every single thing shown in the video, even the slightest details, only difference was that i used a premade video made on Windows Movie Maker but that shouldn't make any difference.

The composition is also the exact length as the song and the video, so that can not be the problem why it stops in middle either.

Is there any way to fix this? What should i do?
