Hi:
I just got an error that displays and doesn't want to go away even after I click the only OK button in the dialog box.
The error as cryptic as this is, is:
"After Effects error : unbalanced unlock. ( 7 :: 40 )
Does anybody know how to get rid of this and why did it show up in the first place?

i have a problem with fps in after effects cc 2017 and the number 23 is keep getting bigger but very slowely , but in after effects cc 15 it starts from 4801 ram already

I have recently made a intro for a user on youtube, I go to render the intro and I get this:

I've reinstalled Quicktime, and I've redone the settings, I am rendering it in my C:/ drive, the only one
I've only encountered this error about 5 times and It's starting to get VERY annoying.

My comp is not set to Ray-Traced, but it is set in Classic 3D. This is imported text, layered styles, from Photoshop. I read there was a patch in 2014, yet, same problems. I just became a member of the Adobe CC world as of a month ago and thinking of giving it up as i read and have been experiencing many problems. Any help please would be appreciated...

How do I make a text box appear to drop down from a shape layer (line), stay on screen for a few seconds, then re-ascend and disappear into the line?
I don't think that I can do it in Premier.
My overall goal is to have the line push in from off screen, then text appears then disappears, then line pushes back off screen.
CNN does this on some of their videos.

I don't know what this means, but it is really annoying me and I need it fixed! I have cleared media cache, disabled gpu acceleration, switched encoding files, but it still won't fix it! PLEASE HELP!!
so im animating a still picture and am trying to make the hair look like it flows with the wind, and i need to get rid of the bangs to do that.
so i try to just draw on top of the bangs on the main body layer, while leaving the layer with the masked out hair for itself, but the parts i painted just stays the same place as it was drawn while the head moves and makes it look weird.
is there a way to make the paint follow the head movements (moved with puppet tool) without having to go into every individual stroke and change the position of the stroke?

I'm having an issue with AE, after the splash screen on start, the app crashes even before I can open any project.

Just thought I'd share this in case anyone isn't aware - if you create a .MOGRT Motion Graphics Template in AE, it isn't protected in any way. If you open the resultant .aegraphic file that's created when you import into Premiere, you have access to the comp, pre comps and all graphic assets, timelines and expressions etc. This can be seen with the bundled templates as per the other posts on this forum (i've since discovered).
I just created a set of MOGRT files for a client thinking that it would be safe (we never share AE project files and our expressions, IP etc) - on closer examination I discovered this. - so this whole process is no good for the way we work with many clients. Pretty disappointing
What we need is a protected/encrypted MOGRT option.
I have two files which as you can see have identical specifications in all areas except duration.
When I make a new comp from selection using "file 2" it instantly makes a new comp.
But when I do the same thing with "file 1 - rewrap" it takes about 30 seconds with a spinning beachball and then finally makes the comp.
I thought maybe the file was corrupt which is why I rewrapped it via media encoder in the same exact specifications, but that did not help.
Both files play equally fine in all media programs as well as AE.
Why does one take so much longer?

I need to get this project done ASAP i have looked through the forums and online with no real help or at least i cant use the info to fix the issue. What do I need to do to correct this, ive run this now probably 6 times making changes here and there and it gets to the same frame and quits. The frame looks just like everything else with no more or less on the screen with regard to graphics etc and i have been able to render videos before that were similar to this. i am relatively new to the program but i have tried the secret menu and doing a purge. any help would be much appreciated, thanx.

I've just rendered the same composition with AE 2015.3 and 2017, and the render times have differentiated pretty significantly.
I' ve rendered with Adobe Media Encoder and in CC2015 it took 10 minutes and in CC2017 it took 16 minutes. Has anyone else experienced a similiar decrease in speed?
I used split layer option to remove all the gaps beetween layers, now when i want to remove gaps i know only one method - to drag them manually, but when i do that i get the previous result as if i didnt cut them at all, seems like layers still hidden inside of this bars. So what would be best solution to get rid of the gaps and put layers together in my case?
When I import RAW 4K I get a pop up to colour grade the footage. How do I get this up for footage already in the project, please?

I'd like to know if it's possible to link a parameter in a precomp to a slider/checkbox, depending on the Precomp layer in the Main Comp.
Here's the point: I have a Precomp with a simple animation in it. This Precomp is duplicated in my MainComp several times. I would like to make visible or not (with opacity) a layer in my Precomp just with a slider/checkbox on each Precomp layer in MainComp.
This is just to keep the animation identical while changing colors and improve my workflow. Precomp is duplicated a loooooot of times.
I know I can link it to Layer name or index, but this isn't the solution in my case.
Is there something like ".parent", for example?
(I hope i've been clear. It's a bit difficult to explain while English is not my mother tongue.)
Just downloaded the latest CC 2017 version (fully updated) and as the project size reached 20 mb, it started to become super sluggish. Can't undo a keyframe delete and any other task basically. It freezes, goes to coma and sometimes totally crashes.
Is there a bug we are dealing with here? Any update coming to fix this?

Basically I enjoy the lighting and different controls for 3D objects, but recently every time I extend the lighting layers length, move it over in the timeline, duplicate, or Precomp it, the lighting turns off completely and cannot turn on. Is there a simple solution to this problem?
I'm working on a big project that involves projection-mapping a small auditorium. I'm was using Madmapper for the actual mapping, but I've figured out that I need to use a design software like AE to actually create compelling illusions. Right now, I'm refining my workflow between the two softwares by exporting a layout of my mapped objects in Madmapper and importing it into AE (keeping res consistent). My issue is that I'm having trouble with creating interesting designs. I've tried solid color layers with glow effects, as well as some basic experimentation with sound responsive particles. Also, I've stumbled on a bunch of tutorials for volumetric lighting. I'm wondering, can I project volumetric lights that are designed to be "fake" stage or spotlights? My premise is a Queen throwback "concert" that involves mapped imagery and music, with no live performers. But I'm still falling short of creating any sort of compelling illusions. Is there anybody here with experience in AE for projection mapping purposes?

The option to check the box next to "Hardware Accelerate Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels" is greyed out.
My compositions play fairly quickly, but why can't I utilized my graphics card the way I should be able to in AE? In Premiere I'm able to use it fine. I just updated my CUDA driver last week.
