Mac Pinch Zoom in AfterEffects

One of the features in AfterEffects I use more than anything, but notice the least out of all of them, was the pinch-zoom and two-finger scroll. I'm not sure if you can use these features on PC but if you've got a trackpad on your Mac, you've probably become just as dependent on this feature as I have. You can not only scroll and zoom on your preview, but you can scroll and zoom on your timeline as well, which is just the stuff dreams are made of.

 

But for some reason in AfterEffects, this amazing, intuitive feature has been removed/altered in the last 2 updates! I just installed the latest one this morning and the feature remains unfixed. I mean, you can still zoom on the preview but it just zooms in and out of 0,0 rather than centrally and certainly not where you put the cursor like before. And yes, the scroll works in the timeline, but the zooming isn't!

This feature isn't replaceable before you tell me to just use '+/-' instead. This is sacred.

 

My perfect resolve to this question is for someone to tell me there's a checkbox I need to go tick buried deep in the preferences somewhere.

hello all,

In a middle of a job, after give me this notification

of course after crashed... and now i cant even open it all!!!!!!!

 

 

Is this a plugin failure?

 

I am in a middle of a job, I haved never faced something like this and now I dont know what to do!!!!!

Can someone help? what can i do?

After Effects 2017 - iMac 5k 2014 Video Card Issues (random black boxes)

Hey Guys,

 

I'm getting these weird issues that appear to be video card related. Occasionally in after effects when scrubbing through the timeline I will get these random black boxes appearing. I've tried rooting through all my layers to see if soloing or eyeballing them off would effect the black boxes but it doesn't. They just randomly appear and when they do they tend to stay there. For instance, the one in the screenshot appeared at around a minute and always shows up in that exact place but it goes away when i scrub back to 50 seconds.

 

I'm running an iMac late 2014 27inch 5k Model OS 10.10.4.

4 GHz Intel Core i7

28 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4096 MB

 

After Effects 2017 14.0.1.5

 

Below is a screenshot of the issue in my viewport. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mask track problem

Hi everyone. To start, I want to say that I´m not an experienced user in after effects, I know many tools but I´m not fluid on my work.

 

Right now I´m trying to make a commercial-like video, it consists of some 3d tracking camera movements with text (text staying in place) and that´s fine, however I want to make the text go behind a soda bottle  as the video rotates and shows the various side of the bottle. I´ve tried many tutorials and many adobe tutorials and all I could come up with is that the right tool to do this would be mask track: by mask tracking the soda bottle, the text should be end up behind the bottle as the video itself shows the various sides of it but everytime I try to use the mask tracking, the mask just stays in one place during the whole process.

 

As far as I know, mask tracking should move the mask along with the object, but in my case it´s as if there´s no tracking going on, the mask just stays in the same position and nothing is being tracked. Any help would be appreciated.

How to change the color of an moving shadow

Hello!

 

 

Does anybody know, how to change the color of an animated 3D Shadow? The element looks like that:Bildschirmfoto 2017-01-23 um 21.42.02.png

In the animation the shadow is moving from left to right. If I select "Shadow Logo v.2" there are only options like that:

I just want to turn the black shadow into white. Thanks for your help!

how to color this masked picture a certain color

I have masked this globe out of another video  and would like to know how to change it's color so that all the red on the globe becomes blue and the white parts of the globe stay the same color.

 

note that the globe is animated and is orbiting

Importing AI Sequence into AE

Is there a function in AE CS6 where you can import (or export from AI) a sequence of layers from AI and have it come into AE in a  sequence of one keyframe after another - sort of - already animated? I know you can work this way between Flash & Ai - but can you do it in AE. I see the Import command / checkbox for an AI sequence - but I haven't been able to work in the way it does for Flash.

Ae CC 2017 crashes when opening preferences

2017 release 14.0.1

previous releases wer fine! After updating to this version making new file, saving and then going to preferences lets Ae crash.

After starting again and loading the file last saved, message CUDA not supported.

Not going to perferences and opening older projects: A soundfile file .m4a is not supported anymore.

How do I solve this problem?

 

additional info:

Graficcars: GTX980

 

And yes, Ae was ok before the update!

When I import Illustrator files into After Effects the bounding box changes

When I import layers into AE the bounding box changes. I have a circle and the bounding box goes past the circle.

I imported layers into AE from Illustrator, I did composition retain layer size.

What I am aiming to do is rotate the circle in it's center point, the issue is when I import the layer into AE the bounding box is off from what it is in Illustrator and because of this when I rotate the circle in AE it comes of as wobbly.

Here is what the layer looks like when I double tap it.

I made sure that all of my bounding boxes are constrained in Illustrator by expanding each individual layer and then making a clipping mask over the group.

When I import this layer into AE the bonding box is extended on the right side of the circle and I do not know how to fix this issue.

Very slow preview rendering after saving and re-opening a project

Hi All,

 

I'm new to after effects and have been using the trial version to undertake some online training.

 

Outside of the training I was playing around copying some Youtube tutorials. For reference the youtube video can be found here:    Create an Amazing Shattering Text or Image Animation in After Effial) - YouTube

 

While i was working away everything was pretty smooth and running well with all previews running pretty much at real time. I decided to save the project and come back to it later after learning about some 3D techniques. When I opened the project and tried to preview it, the preview was very slow and was rendering at about 1 frame every 3 seconds. Of course I could let it run through the preview to cache it but any time I then made a change it wanted to render the whole thing again.

 

I'm pretty sure that this shouldn't be happening based on my experience when building the project so can anyone advise what might be going on here?

 

I'm running an i7 3.5ghz with 16gb RAM and a Radeon 6800. All Project and programme files are on a Solid State Drive with an OS of Windows 10.

Stroke weight not consistent when using pen tool

Hi, I've been using Adobe products for a long time, but only just started to learn AE.

 

Using CC 2017, I've started watching some tutorials on Lynda.com.

 

I'm struggling with a simple line using the pen tool. The stroke weight is not consistent. It starts off one width, becomes wider in the bend and returns to a thinner width.

 

Anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?

playback problem in after effects

yet another AE playback prob !!

it's happening to me in cc 2017, that the comp caches but doesn't playback.

after close and open the program again it starts working, but after a few minutes in a precomp it goes wonky again.

the sequence cache bar goes all green but no playback.

any of you encountered such a problem? any workaround or fix?

 

i miss old ram preview...

I have an ongoing adobe ae and ps subscription but after having the latest update, AE  won't open and always crash.

Ps works just fine.  I tried uninstalling and whenever I install it keeps retrying. I have a deadline this week and badly needed

the software that I availed for. PLEASE HELP.

Hi guys! I want to know how to make effects which I marked below at these times (I think about auras, beams, flashes, ugly "granade style" booms):

The most important thing is they are in fact ugly effect, perfect for making machinima from game like this. I don't have any idea how to manage Adobe After Effects, so I would appreciate links or name of some things I must learn that EXACLY will allow me to do that kind of stuff, or even better, tutorial to do nearly same effects.

AE upgrade now presets don't work?

Hi adobe community,

 

Just recently upgrade my AE via the desktop ap (I have full CC) and now my animation presets won't work? I get an error box

 

( 0 :: 1 )

After Effects error: Can't import file "Fade Up Characters.ffx": unsupported filetype or extension

 

AE 14.1.1

 

I am trying to get the presets out of Bridge - do I need to also upgrade bridge? I can't see an upgrade for it on my desktop ap.

 

Any help would be great thanks

Exporting video with transparent background for web

What export settings would you use to get a web friendly file, out of a movie with a transparent background?
It's a short animation (2 secs) at 1920x1440 size. I need to export it with rgb+alpha, so I chose the png codec, which output a 44mb sized file.

 

Is it possible to get it under 10mb somehow?

Lost compositions after Purge???

Hello, first time post and I am hoping this is something very simple to resolve???

 

Ok, so here is my problem:

 

I have/had quite a hefty file which I was RAM rendering however only a minute or so of the 21 mins+ rendered.

 

I then went on to purge the file to speed up the rendering however once i have done this all but one of the compositions have completely gone!

 

It seems to have auto saved? even thought this option was not selected and did not give me the option to save?

 

I have no idea what has happened and your help will save me over 2 weeks worth of work.

 

This happened at 17:00 UK time and i had been saving it frequently during the day. Is there a way I can recover previously saved versions from my external hardrive by date and time? Is this a lost cause or can anyone at least explain how this is happened to avoid it in the future. I appreciate your feedback and look forward to hearing from you.

"Refreshed Disabled" all the time

Hello!

 

I'm using After Effects CC 2017, but I was using CC 2015 when the problem first appeared (tried to download a previous and a newer version, the problem persisted on both). Here is what happened:

 

.I opened the project. I see the message "Refresh Disabled (Release Caps Lock to refresh the view)" with the black screen, but Caps Lock is ALREADY released. I didn't even pressed it in the first time.

 

.When the video is rendered, the message doesn't appears.

 

.If I change anything, like just move one layer a little, the message comes back.

 

.Any key I press make the message disappears.

 

I tried to reset my configurations, with no success.

 

Trying to finish a project but it's impossible this way. Any of you guys could help me? I'm using a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) Sierra, 2,9 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB.
