I came across this error when I was opening an After Effects file my co-worker made. It gave me this error for all the photos in the project.
We're both using version 14.0.1.5
Has anyone ever seen this error? JPEG backwards?

UPDATE: I just now figured out how to fix it (it was a permissions issue since we're using a SAN), but I was still curious if anyone had seen this GEPJ error. Weird.
Is there anyway to use the Facial Tracking Method to make my face appear different? Similar to how Photoshop does it.

Can't seem to figure out how to scale rotoscoped objects in ae. when I go to scale the object the tool will scale the whole scene underneath. Must be an easy way to do this?
So I have one layer and one composition in a certain project that have effects attached to them that I need to apply to MANY videos. The effect is not easy to make either, so I was hoping there would be a way to copy it from one project to the other. Some people suggested Ctrl+C Ctrl+V, but I am unable to open more than one after effects project at once. Also, importing the other AEP into my current one glitches it out severely, and I cannot get that to work. My composition imports properly (the one with the effects in it) as well as the full composition of the other video. However, the solids are placed into a folder, and when that folder is opened, it contains the solid from the composition (for the effect) and two adjustment layers that are just pure white. How can I simply copy these two objects from my initial project into my new one and retain the effects?

I have AE CS5 and installed the whole thing in German (because I am German^^) but now I realize that for tutorials and so on it would be much easier in Englisch. So is there a way to change the language without reinstalling? I had a look for some answers, but the "Languages"-folder isn't located at
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\After Effects CS5"
I use the 64-bit-Version

I feel as though I've hit a glass ceiling in terms of being self-taught by reading, forums and watching YouTube videos.
Are there any opportunities that exist for people such as myself on a steep but fast learning curve who didn't go to school for motion graphics? It's the one marketable skill I lack. I want to get to a point of proficiency where if a client said, "We want the graphic to look like 'this,', and then fly in, twist and explode into small pieces, here is the .PNG file for our logo, now go make it happen," I can come back with a working motion graphic they could critique and further finesse to completion.
Classroom work I feel in the only real-world environment to prepare me for such situations.

I also just started learning Premier and I believe that not setting a solid foundation for your workflow is what can develop long-term bad habits that make for chaos is post production within the realm of what are expected industry standards. I don't want to make that mistake.

Ok this is nuts....64GB RAM, i7HS 4GHZ, 4GB MSI GTX 980 4G Twin FrozrV....with 12yrs After Effects experience (Daily user)....The preview panel has decided to do absolutely nothing when pressed!!!! Spacebar also doesn't work....NumPad0 however does.....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SORT THIS OUT!!! DEADLINES and my LIVING is dependant on this.....I'm clearly not the only one experiencing this issue either.

I just got the whole creative cloud and downloaded after effects and premiere pro. It seems that my dynamiclink isnt working at all. I watched a video where it said put the shortcuts in the dynamicink folder in the common files and I couldn't even find that folder. I dont know if the video is outdated which means the folder is in a new place or not But everytime I track camera i get "unable to obtain dynamiclink server connection.
I have been using After Effects CC2017 for a few weeks with no issues. Suddenly, last night I opened a recent project and got this message: "This project was last used with Mercury GPU acceleration (CUDA), which is not available on this system. Mercury software Only will be used".
This is weird for a number of things:
- First, Adobe Premiere PRO recognizes and uses the CUDA available.
- After Effects gives me the option, in Preferences, to select GPU (vs. CPU), it's not greyed out.
- AE lists my NVidia card under CUDA (in GPU information).
- No changes have been made, and now all my projects show this message.
When I go to File>Project settings>Video rendering and Effects, the option to select Mercury Hardware acceleration (CUDA) is greyed out.
I re-installed the NVidia drivers 3 times, with no luck. I made sure (in the NVidia control panel) that, the necessary options are selected.
Has anybody had this issue or know how to fix it? I appreciate any help.

Hello everyone,
I am working through a tutorial and I am supposed to draw several lines on one solid layer using the pen tool. I am drawing a blueprint graphic that has the line strokes on the letters in the graphic. In the tutorial example all the lines show up but on my screen I can only see 1. If I click on the dots that show where the other ones are by holding the shift key down I can then see all of the lines drawn. I cannot make them all show up at once without clicking and using the shift key. The problem is I end up moving all of them when they are showing if I try to adjust one line. Also, when I try to animate the opacity of the lines so they appear to draw nothing happens. I am using the latest version of AE but the tutorial is using a version from a few years ago. I'm sure its a simple setting somewhere but since I'm not an expert I am at a loss.

We bought an internal SSD hard drive - Samsung 850 EVO PRO (512gb) (by accident)
And ended up buying a PNY 2.5in Drive Enclosure to use with the Internal SSD with the USB 3.0 port of the imac
This SSD was intended to be used as a Disk Cache for After Effects, but it just stops working after some time when I'm working on After Effects.
I can work from 15min to 1 or 2 hours without any problem, then suddenly AE becomes very slow, and I notice the light on the enclosure turned off (when is writing/reading is blinking blue),
The drive is still "on" on Finder, but when I click on it it takes 5 to 10 min just trying loading (no folder inside the SSD loads) and the finders stops working.
I've already:
- Changed the USB port it was connected and still got the same problem
- Changed the USB cable that connects the enclosure to the iMac - same problem
- Changed the PNY enclosure to a new one - same problem.
I haven't changed the Hard Drive itself, and I would like to erase all other possibilities before I try that...
Maybe there's a proper way to set up the SSD for AE?
Before I was using a LACIE normal HD thorough Tunderbolt as Disk Cache and I haven't had any problems.
(but I can see the speed difference of the SSD when it actually works)
Also I've noticed that this only happens while using After Effects..
If the SSD is plugged but not being used the PNY enclosure's light turns off and as soon as I click on it on finder the blue light comes back on...
I'm using an iMac 27-inch late 2013 - OS X 10.10.5
And After Effects 2015.3

and I found footage colour is different
I checked blending mode, color profiles, preferences, color management, color settings and it's all same settings.
It has to be same because it's same project
anyone know why it happens?

I have after effects 2017, i try to get my roto brush tool to outline a foreground figure [on its own layer] and the green line is visible and draws but when i let go of mouse, it just disappears and no outline is being made. What am i doing wrong? or what setting is not correct?

After Effects CC 2017 is not rendering either by "add to render queue" or by the Adobe Media Encoder.
My system is:
Windows 7
64 bit operating system
16GB RAM
Intel i7-2600CPU@3.40GHz
GeForce GTX 570/PCIe/SSE2 (version 2.1.2 NVIDIA 361.43, Total Memory: 1.20GB, Shader Model: 4.0 or later
This is my disk cache setup and I also purge often..
When I try and render the composition by "add to render queue" it comes up with the message..."out of disk space 26::165...." yet I have lots of disk space.
When I try and render by adobe media encoder, it gets stuck and then fails and in the log it says:

I am very inexperienced with After Effects CC (latest version). Keylight may not be the perfect solution but I'm stuck.
What I am trying to do is:
1. make the film melt right after an explosion happens
2. after this, another clip will start inside the burning hole as the burn fades out
3. not use the film burn effect in After Effects
4. use a stock video clip has a green screen applied to the hole being created by the burn
I figured out how to use Keylight to make the hole in the stock clip of burning film. I can't figure out how to invert it to mask out and apply it to the explosion clip so you I can start the next clip inside the burning hole.
Suggestions?

I want the layers to disperse away and out of frame.
Is there a way of doing this using expressions or scripts?
I've been looking into it a bit and can't seem to find anything like this...

I changed the fps rate in the Preview panel.
From 29.97fps to 59.94fps.
And I did a preview.
When I went back to 29.97, and did preview, appears this error, when i try make RAM Preview.
It seems that fps with number integer works normal, because I've put in 30 fps, 25, 24, 15, and all work normal, the problem appears only when put in 29.97fps or 59.94fps.
In cs6 you could directly render out of AE to h.264 via render queue.
Now there is no option in the dropdown, only avi, jpg sequence. dpx etc. is this intentional to have to use AME to render out?
