A client had a pro designer create a mo graph sequence where they actually created a custom font with a stroke shape layer. This allowed them to add all sorts of things shape layer can have like trim paths as well as totally customized animation. This is a bit beyond my skill set with AFX as I am mostly an editor but I was just curious is there a way to take a font and convert it to a shape layer and it automatically draws the paths for you? That way you can then take full control and do things like have it write on and etc?

Warp Stabilizer cropping too much of the video?
To start off, I am extremely new to after effects so I'm not entirely sure how easy/difficult this is. However, I applied the warp stabilizer to a video clip in a sequence and set the amount of stabilization to 30%. I did this with the rest of the clips with no problem but for some reason after effects crops one of the clips and makes it very skinny and adds really big borders. What can I do to stop it from cropping the video so far?

After Effects CC 17 crashes repeatedly on preview
All afternoon AE has been crashing on preview at half resolution on a 344MB 4:39 min clip that contains audio. It won't play more than a few seconds then loops and/or crashes.
-I've muted audio in preview panel.
-Followed a video on a potential fix that indicated to raise raise [prefs>memory>RAM reserved for other applications] to 7G. No difference.
-Repeatedly cleared disk cache - no difference.
Actually haven't been able to work all afternoon because of this issue. Must have had near a dozen crashes.
There's not any massive footage in project and comp only has the one 5min clip without effects.
Comp settings: 1080p @ 25fps
AE CC 2017 v.14.1.0.57
OS: win10
CPU: i7 4790K
MB: Gigabyte Z97X-UD3H-CF
RAM: 16G
GPU: Geforce GTX-980

I had After Effects Cc 2015 installed in my laptop.I have NVidia GeForce 940MX 4GB graphic card installed in my laptop.This graphic card is not in the list of compatible graphic card for After Effects for fast 3D rendering.Is there any way I can use my graphic card for after effects ?

Unable to recognize my graphic card by GPUSniffer
I have After Effects Cc 2015 installed in my laptop.I have NVidia GeForce 940MX 4GB graphic card installed in my laptop(This graphic card is not in the list of compatible graphic card for After Effects as mentioned on site).I have added my graphic card in "Raytracer_Supported_Cards".txt file.When I am launching GPUSniffer in Command prompt it is showing up my inbulilt graphic card in the Renderer and not recognizing my NVidia 4GB graphic card.What should I do?PFB snapshot

Unresolved font AE
I keep getting thing warning message when I start up my AE project yet when I click "ok" and on the text layers that require for example Gilroy - Extrabold, it changes back to Gilroy no problem but I then have to go through every single one of my text layers and manually change the character properties.
Have tried reinstalling the font and restarting AE and cleared cache. Nothing seems to be working.

I'm setting up a simple comp dealio in CS6 with a 3D text layer on a video layer and when I draw a mask shape around part of the text I want to knock out, nothing happens.

Video has glitch when exported, but not in timeline
Hello,
I know this is a silly video, but I was testing a green screen and noticed a glitch when my friend pretends to get shot. I almost looks like a jump cut.

I reviewed the project again and it played fine on the timeline and exported it again, but still there is a glitch in the video in a different location.
Does anyone know why this would happen or has anyone experienced this before?

Unable to replace files in the project window
I have After Effects cc 2017.1 Version 14.1.0.57 on a Mac.
When I want to replace an image in the project window, the ai and psd files are greyed out, therefore, not allowing me to replace files.

Repeater just creates 20 copies
I'm creating a timeline using a shape layer, with the repeater to create the grid line. The problem is that when I copy (and I want to make 200 copies in the repeater), it just goes until 20. Is repeater limited, or is it a bug on my After? Thank you!

New computer - After Effects slow - Performance used 5%
Hi,
To speed up my work, I recently bought a new computer. Unfortunately After Effects (and illustrator) are running slower(!) then my old pc did. I use the fastest SSD possible for my files, scratchdisks, databases, caches and all. I have GPU power enabled, without any result. Also my computer is only using 5% of its CPU power and 19% of its memory. What am I doing wrong? Please help.
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 1700X Eight-Core Processor (16 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
Memory: 65536MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 12
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

After Effects CC 2017 instant crash when locking screen/screensaver comes on.
Title says it all again.
It doesn't matter If I'm rendering, if I have a project open or just blank AE. I get this constantly with no exceptions. Whenever I lock my screen or it automatically locks the screen or the screensaver comes on After Effects crashes instantly. Can't know for sure if it's instant since I literally have the screensaver or lock screen on.
I'm using Windows 10, up to date and no other After Effects versions are installed on my PC which is a fresh install not older than 2 months at the time of writing this message.

Experts...
is it possible to set the folder location that AE will save my presets to and goes looking for my user presets?
I'd like to do this so that my preset files are included in my daily backup routine.

Problems exporting 1920 x5000 pixels in MP4 (h265)
HI,
Trying to export a video at 1920x5400 which works when I add to render Queue and export as MOV/animation.
But I want the export to be MP4/265 and the file is export as 1920x4352 ?
But exporting a 5760x3240 file seems to be fine, not sure if it's anything to do with the ratios ?

AE HELP - Main comp not showing the same as the Precomp
This is the second project this has happened on, but same machine and same operator. My main comp contains a precomp and it does not render the same as it does when I'm looking at the precomp. My character arms comp isin a scene comp and that scene comp is in my main comp. when previewing my main comp, my character arms are a randomly rotated, flickery mess. If I go into the scene comp to fix it, the arms are positioned right where I left them and there is nothing visible to fix.
I've tried clearing the cache, changing my scratch drive, rebooting, calling IT to check my drives, opened on a different machine and it still does it. SO it must be me then?!? I don't have the constant raster button on. None are 3D layers. All the frame rates are the same in all the comps and assets. There are no effects applied to the precomp in the main comp. What gives? Any ideas? I'm ready to delete the whole scene and start over, but without knowing the cause, I'm worried it might just do it again.
