I opened After Effects and noticed that the Toolbar was missing ... went to the windows drop down and activated it but it just appears as a white bar. and cannot be docked. I have reinstalled 5 times with the same result. When I uninstall AE there is the prompt to delete user preferences ... which I click on then it uninstalls the program ... but when I reinstall it still has all of the preferences installed ..... WTF.

after effects cc 2015 won't export to Media encoder
I'm exporting the comp to media encoder from After Effects. Media Encoder launches, but nothing shows up in the render queue. Has anyone run into this? What am I missing?

Ae CC 2017 crashes when opening preferences
2017 release 14.0.1
previous releases wer fine! After updating to this version making new file, saving and then going to preferences lets Ae crash.
After starting again and loading the file last saved, message CUDA not supported.
Not going to perferences and opening older projects: A soundfile file .m4a is not supported anymore.
How do I solve this problem?

Colour Grading pop up (After Effects)
When I import RAW 4K I get a pop up to colour grade the footage. How do I get this up for footage already in the project, please?

After Effects and Premiere Pro duplicating images and displaying incorrect images when imported
Hi
I'm having one hell of a problem right now with After Effects and Premiere Pro. It's so bad even Adobe Customer Care is at a loss.
I am working on an animatic based on images of a storyboard, 89 pages in total. when I import them into AE or Pr some images appear as duplicates of others.
For example, if I import pages 86-89, they show up in the program as either all page 86 or even page 42 (completely different pages)
I have imported individual images just to make sure it wasn't because I imported all the images at once and I still have the same issue/
Has anyone had this issue before? if so how did you fix it? Customer care fiddled around with the Common folder but that did nothing. I even updated it and nothing.

missing buttons in motion tracker
In my Tracker Panel, everything below the "Current Track" is gone. They aren't greyed out or anything, they just aren't there.
I can't select a track type, target for the motion, analyze, or apply.
Is this a problem with the download or is there a specific kind of shenanigan I have to select for those options to appear?

After Effects CC 17 Depth of Field not working??
Please Help! I've been working on a project In After Effects CC 2017 making a title template, I clicked the box to set my title template with the effects I already have on it to 3D, set the mode to screen and then duplicated the Title template, I then tried to push the duplicated layer in the Z Field back to have that 3D effect but when I do, it doesn't show my duplicated layer pushed back at all even though it shows I have two layers, and ive tried many other forum solutions like: pushing it back even further into Z-Field, changing the Renderer: from classic 3D to Cinema 4D, and Ray-traced 3D and still nothing, the only issues I can think of is maybe my graphics card isn't compatible for the 3D rendering cause when I go to Preferences and check my GPU Information nothing shows up in my OpenGL or my CUDA, and also my preview screen that displays my project shows in the top right corner "Display Acceleration: Disabled". Also I apologize in advance I am not amazing with After Effects I am still learning, so please if you can be specific with answers it would be greatly appreciated.

Videos as Particles?
I've been using CC Particle World a lot and I've noticed that the ability to use static images as textures for the particles is an option. However, is it possible to create any sort of particle effect that actually uses footage or multiple frames as the texture in After Effects? For example, let's say that I have 60 low-resolution frames that form a perfect loop when repeated. Would there be any way for each particle to use all of these frames so that the particle's texture also appears to be in motion, or am I always limited to using static textures?

Text replaced by wrong letters and symbols
I have recently bought and downloaded a customizable logo intro. There's 4 different text holders and the 3 of them work just fine, but the 4th one is replacing every letter with another letter or symbol.
The After Effects version i am using is After Effects CC 2017.
How can i fix this? Please help!

AE and AME error

I have an issue with AE. It's seems that when you work on a project made with multiple versions of CC ( in my case CC2014 / 2015 /2017), you can't export in AME.
AE crashes and doesn't answer.
I tested with a new comp created in CC2017 and try to export with AME and it worked.
So I tried to import the "multi CC" project in a new CC2017 project, and some error appeared ( XML issue / error in line XX ).
But the project works, no problem to export in AE render queue but it seems to lose connection with AE and compatibility because I tried to open the project directly in AME and it fails or just show some compositions but not all.
If someone has a solution, it would be very helpful,

uninstall and reinstall
every time I open up Adobe After Effects it says 'uninstall and reinstall' and every time I do uninstall and reinstall it says the EXACT same message. I've even turned my laptop off and on a few times. same message. can anyone help?

Lyric Video Effects Question
Hello all,
I hope that you are all having a great evening. Today I was watching a recent lyric video from Ed Sheeran and I wanted to get your advice/opinions on how you would go about creating two of the effects I took a liking to. The first effect of which I am talking about is applied to the background, it almost looks as if the tie-dyed background is liquefied although I'm having a slow evening in regards to thinking. The second effect of which I took a liking to is the paint brush strokes which the lyrics lay on, the only way in which I can describe these is that they are trembling, although I am hoping you will expand on this further.

Overwrite & Insert editing
Hello , I am very new to After effects . . just starting right now so I'll be asking quite a lot of what seem to everyone to be very simple questions , but to me there are very hard questions . So thanks in advance for your patience and assistance so here we go . . . .
I have a clip in the monitor with the in \ out points selected but I cannot get it into the timeline . The tutorial says that there are supposed to be insert / overwrite buttons in the timeline but I cannot find anything in my timeline , are there shortcut insert / overwrite keys etc ?

After Effects CC: Enabling Time Remapping displaces clip and slows it
Hello everyone, as I have to sync some game footage (720p30fps) to a song, I have started using Time Remapping today.
It worked fine, but all of a sudden (or so I think) everything kept going horribly wrong: If I right-click a layer and select Time>Enable Time Remapping, the timeline for it pops up, but there are no keyframes (as opposed to one at start and beginning). The selected frame changes and is at a totally different point in time (last time in-game time was ~4 min instead of ~11 min), but layer markers stay at their previous point in relation to the composition; however, they are at a totally different scene of the actual layer.
Example: I layer-mark a kill at 5:00 in game and 1:00 into the composition, after I enable Time Remapping, the layer hasn't moved and the marker is still at 1:00, but now at a totally different in-game scene.
So I checked if the timing had changed, and apparently the game time only ran 30 secs further between two points that should have been exactly 1 minute apart.
I should mention that the clips are taken from a video that's more than 5 hours long, so the start and ending point of it are outside of the composition, the In and Out (?) of the layer are obviously inside of it, though.
I really hope you understand my problem and perhaps you can help me out.

PR speed ramp dissappear in AE
I currently speed ramp GH4 96fps footage in premiere up to 1000% on multiple clips in a timeline, then select all the clips and send to AE via right click "replace with AE." As soon as I'm in AE, I check all my clips and occasionally there is a clip that blacks out, when there should still be frames. These clips are already in a pre composition for some reason, when the rest are normal just mov files, even though some of the rest have pr ramping as well, so it seems totally random. I have no idea how to solve this and it is halting my workflow completely. Any help appreciated. I am on a PC platform running up to date PR and AE, with Nvidia and CUDA up to date.

How to paint-in visibility of a layer
I recently upgraded to cs5 after effects after years of using earlier versions.
It is a normal part of my working procedure to use a white solid layer as a track matte in order to reveal or hide the layer beneath
it by painting in the invisible solid layer with Vector paint in the composition window.
This means I can paint directly over the underlying image and brush-in the visibilty of the hidden layer.
How do I achieve this now that vector paint has gone and the ability to paint in the composition window is also gone?
It is no use to me to have to paint in a layer window when I cannot see the underlying layer beneath my paint strokes.
How do I achieve this basic requirement?

Premiere Keyframes Change When Sent to After Effects
Hi community,
My workflow begins with Premiere 2017, where I speed ramp clips. I nest that clip and send to AE 2017 via dynamic-link for color grading, then render out the link-ed comp in premiere since sound FX are in premiere.
Problem:
The keyframes in AE seem not to ramp the footage smoothly like done in Premiere. When moving forward one frame at a time in AE I can see freeze-frames randomly, as if the keyframe adjustments were not transferred correctly to AE or AE simply does not process ramping data . My clip in AE normally ends with a couple freezeframe's at the end - making me think AE adds a keyframe at the end of the comp or something. Is there a way I need to set it up the nest in Premiere to simply transfer accurate speed ramping and keyframe placement to AE?
