I have imported the illustrator layers ( released to sequences) into after effects as compositions. I have created the shapes from the illustrator vectors. Everything is fine except for some of the layers have multiple groups each with its own shapes. https://imgur.com/Vjyie2c , https://imgur.com/NnvcV0T I am trying to explore if it is possible to merge all the path into one. or group them all into one and add one path. Or the only way is to go back into Illustrator and fix that from there. I am newbie on after effects. Let me know if you need more information that might help resolves my confusion.

After Effects 2018 Crashes While Trying to Initialize MediaCore

However, I have not been able to launch the program at all, as every time I try, it crashes while trying to initialize MediaCore.

Tough Tracking
I'm curious if anyone is able to successfully track this shot for the first 10 seconds. Specifically, the side of the boat. I tried to overlay a logo onto the boat using AE and then Mocha, and got nowhere with either.

After Effects saving takes 5 minutes or more
CPU: Ryzen 7 1700x
GPU: GTX 1070 Ti
Ram: 16 GB
Most current version of AE: 2018 CC
I have searched very long with no answers that worked. Ive tried moving the save file, from HDD to SSD, clearing cache, etc. The project have 5 gb of items in it, but no effects no nothing. Just like 6 10 second clips in a timeline.
The problem: I save, or it auto saves, and it stops responding for a solid 3 minutes. Nothing is maxed out in my resource monitor. All of a sudden, it starts working again and saves basically instantly. Why is this and how do I fix it? Please help.

4K monitor buying advice
Hi,
Like other people I have trouble to get real time playback with Ram preview in AE (since CC 2015 version because CC 2014 runs prefectly ok).
I've got the exact same problem describe by Jeff here:

It seems that it is a bug in the After Effects UI related to 4k monitor display.
I've heard (not sure of that) that this bug occurs with some 4k monitors but not with other. I'm willing to change my monitor if it can solve the problem.
So I need a buying advice. Do you guys have a 4k monitor model to recommand to me ? Is there any 4k monitor that runs smootly the Ram preview in AE ?
I'm on Windows 10.

I did also have BMD Mini Monitor outputting, makes no difference if not connected.
I will try a displayport cable if I can get one to see if that does it as well, but I thought worth flagging it here just in case.

(I did not configure this set up!)
I also did have a third display connected to the Promise running at 2160p HDMI.
If I tuned that on after boot, it disabled the iMac display.

Create Nulls From Paths: Position is way off
Hi! I love the new built-in feature "create nulls from paths." However, sometimes I get an issue where the newly created nulls are not where they should be. Please see the examples below, where the front leg of the bicyclist kicks out four misplaced nulls. Anyone else having this issue? Any workarounds? Fixes? Advice?

cc 2018 won't render .mov H.264
CC 2018 and Media Encoder both refuse to render .mov H.264 files, even if quicktime is installed and can be selected. THe render just crash every single time. I hope this will be fixed Quickly!

My friend used to have a cool video tutorial from adobe, it was a few years ago.
I would like to buy it, but I can't remember the name of it, I thought it was after effects, but that seems to be the wrong thing.
The tutorial first taught you how to put a bottle of water inside a waterfall with the water bouncing off it, then there

cached preview needs 2 or more frames to play back
Okay i know that this question has been asked probably a million times by now, but since the adobe support is absolute trash it looks like I'm going to have to ask again here to see if i can get any help regarding this issue. I keep getting an error saying "after effects error: cached preview needs 2 or more frames to play back".
No matter what i seem to try it keeps coming up. I cant figure out at all why it is doing it. I've done literally everything i can think of, and Ive done multiple reinstalls, however no matter what i try it keeps happening. At first when i do a reinstall nothing will happen, i can have maybe one comp and it'll work fine, but the minute i go above one comp/precomp the error pops up, and then will continue to appear on every single project regardless of the size after that.
Im starting to regret getting involved with this program, as this error or bug makes the program virtually unusable.
Does anyone have any sort of solution to this issue?

AE won't let me use GPU - cannot identify CUDA
Hi, I am using a iMac 27" (End 2013) with NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M. The problem I am facing since ages is that After Effects won't recognise the GPU via CUDA so I am stuck with the Ray-Tracing CPU Option only.
As researching on the web I realised that I also had to add the card's name into the text file (raytracer_supported_cards) which I did according to a video tutorial.
I only randomly have access when a new CUDA Update is being released and downloaded. Only then I had it like 2-3 times that I was able to select the GPU Option from the "Preview" Tab in AE. Otherwise I am stuck using CPU only.
Please help me solve this problem. It really slows down the whole rendering and preview process when not being able to use this feature.

Ok so I recently downloaded after effects trial and I tried to open it up but it stops responding and I always have to close it.
I've already tried to reinstall after effects and tried searching up the problem but nothing seems to work. I even tried resetting my laptop. What should I do?

Fractal Noise *not working*
I am trying to recreate a Glitch effect by adding fractal noise to a solid. However whenever I add the effect the solid layer seems to disappear? No matter what settings I tweak for the effect, the layer still stays transparent. I have restarted both After Effects and my computer. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

I'm not sure if its related to our in house network systems or an Adobe issue. We're running all the current versions of Adobe CC software.

CUDA issues in After Effects CC 2018 on MacOS

I contacted Adobe about that issue and they told me " We apologize but it is a known issue going on with the NVIDIA cards and Adobe applications and no fix for that till now and might be fixed in future updates".
Hi,
Since I upgraded my MacBook to High Sierra and upgraded my Adobe CC to 2018 and my AE is driving me crazy.
My graphics card is Nvidia Geforce 750M. First CUDA 9 was not showing in the GPU preferences page in AE and it was only showing Open CL, Metal and Software only , I contacted Adobe and unfortunately they let me download CUDA 8 and they told me that this is the supported version right now. That was wrong though! and it made my MacBook so laggy and I got kernel panic couple times while working on projects.
-In case you had the same problem too- I figured out that if you are running the new MacOS you have to download "Nvidia Driver Manager" and use the driver that Nvidia developed rather than the driver that Apple is offering, and then download CUDA 9 and everything should work fine!
That made my AE more stable and more responsive, specially while working with chroma and Keylight, but still AE is slower than usual when RAM preview videos.
I went to my project preferences page and I was shocked when I figured out that CUDA is not on the list of the video renderers while it's showing in the GPU information in the preferences panel!
I tried everything you would imagine and nothing worked for me. I decided to install Windows on my MacBook and try and no surprise CUDA was there in the list and AE on Windows is way faster than AE on MacOS's RAM preview! I also noticed that the Shared Model in the GPU preferences panel on the MacOS is showing "-" while on Windows it's "4.0 or later".
Please find attached some pictures showing my MacBook specs and some comparisons between MacOS and Windows running AE.
Hope you guys can find a solution and help me fixing this issue!
