The comp is frozen with a red and white bar beneath it.

Screen Shot 2014-02-18 at 8.48.36 PM.pngI’m working in a composition, and I have several pre-comped layers and other types of layers in this composition. One of the layers that has animation on it is frozen, and it is also the only layer that has a red and white striped bar beneath it. There is some basic motion animation going on, but almost the exact same animation on two of the other pre-comped layers that work fine. All of the other layers are still animated, and this pre-comped layer is animated when I click into it, just not when I am in the main composition.

 

My questions are: is this bar a warning that I need to take care of? How do I get the comp to work again.

Why is Cineware not exporting camera data from AE to C4D Lite?

(To preface, I've searched forums, Adobe help, and followed many tutorials.)

 

I have a live shot that I have 3D Camera Tracked using the built in AE plugin. I select 'Create new Camera and Solid'. AE creates a new 3d tracked camera and a solid. I save my comp. I go to 'File-Export-Maxon C4D', and create a new .c4d file. I import that file to AE, and put it in my comp. I go to 'Edit--Edit Original...'. C4D Lite opens up. I can see a new null, with a plane and camera inside. Everything looks great, but the camera has no animation on it. Upon closer inspection, I realize that none of the keyframes from my AE camera have been exported to my C4D camera.

 

I've tried exporting a new camera to C4D in as many ways as I can think of. The other strange thing was that the 'Merge Camera' button in the Cineware plugin in AE is grayed out, no matter how many new cameras I make. I've even made my own cameras and animated them without using the 3d Tracker plugin and it never exports correctly. I've also tried reinstalling C4D Lite. Thoughts?

Scripting bug in the background?

Hi

 

A few weeks ago I read a post by Alan_AEDScripts about Killing windows (palettes) and  that

seems to be true. I´ve  been testing some scripts and  I found that Functions are also keept in memory even after the function ends

 

This is a simple window (dialog) tester  with 10 buttons.

Before I run it After Effects memory allocated is

and  after I run tester script 20 times After effects memory increases in almost 3 megs.This is more visible with windows that has more features and have to be open and close a lot of times.

It seems to be that the same thig happens with ScriptUI Panels

 

I have a more complex script that when a I run it it increases  almost 2 megs to the memory allocated by AE  every time I run it .I tried  a lot things but unfortunately memory keeps increasisng  

 

Maybe I am the only one who is experiencing this issue.if not this is serius bug that

should be solved right away.

 

All tests were done in AE CC. Please give it try

MY AFTER EFFECTS CAN´T BOOT !

i need some help guys please ! i just want to know what are the requirements for Ae to boot

a couple of weeks earlier everything went ok ; this Ae malfunction started after i had a system failure where i lost a lot of data ! thank you guys !

PS . I installed quicktime pro and still nothing happens i heard QT32 is needed but i don´t know how to get around this !

Render Problem :(

Hi everyone,

 

I have the monthly subscription for the Creative Suite Cloud.  I've been using it without any issues for the past few months.  However, I've recently run into an issue with rendering my projects from After Effects. 

 

Before I move forward, let me say that I'm not looking for suggestions on "you should render this way instead of that" etc.  When I render a project I've been going to Composition - Add to Render Queue - Output Module.  I've then been selecting Quicktime format and then under "format otpions" I've been slecting H.264.  This has been working perfectly for me.  I turned on my computer this morning, opened up After Effects, and then went to the render queue.  As usual I selected the Quicktime format, but when I went to "format options" there was no H.264 option available.  It also seemed like a few other options were missing.

 

I can't figure out why the H.264 option is missing.  And again, to make it clear, this isn't an issue with H.264 missing from the format tab...It's now missing from the "format options" button below, even though it was there for 2+ months prior.

 

Any help asap is greatly appreciated.

hardware question

I shoot on a sony77 using mtx/avchd.  Will I have a problem using render nodes that I am signed in on?  I was planning to use multiple desktops to do the work.  Will I have a problem with rendering using a node (signed in or not) on boxed that are older and do not have compatable graphics cards?  I know performance will be hampered because of the slower system.  I am looking for problems with installation and operation not performance as much.

Best Full-Dome Plugin for Adobe After Effects?

Hi, i'm actually working on Planetarium USACH as a digital animator and we are trying to create new full-dome shows, with 4K resolution, but we need to know wich is the best plugin to add to AE (we have the CS6 version) to create and add videos or images on a circular full-dome projection, even if its one that we need to pay for it please tell me, or send me the link because we need it soon.

Question about order of effects in after effects

I'm just a hobbiest. I want to put home convert home movies to 4K. Nobody I know has gone 4K. i'm using the effects color correcton, detail(I don't know what it's called  but  you use it for scale)  in distort and add grain .but I don't know which order they should be in or what all the Eastman and Kodak grains are or the best color correction for 4k are?

After Effects closes after launch

After Effects will close immediately after launch. It loads the interface and right after it loads the effects panel the whole program closes. I have reinstalled it numerous times and still closes. The first time I installed it it worked fine but ever since nothing. I am using Creative Cloud also on my laptop. Could this cause the problem? I have Windows 7 64-bit running newest version of After Effects as it updates and it's on my desktop PC. Any help would be appriated.

QT32 Server Crashing with 12.2 Update

After upgrading to AE 12.2, I noticed an error popping up while working on the next video of a series (which had not had any problems before, even using the same footage). I was getting "Error (4) reading frame from file..." errors, immediately followed by a "Keylight out of memory (4) (25::241)" error. I got both errors twice before I could move the playhead again.

I tried opening other projects that had been workin fine on 12.1, both from the same seriesbut previous episodes and also other projects using footage from the same camera with and without Keylight and encountered the error again. removing Keylight did not solve the issue. After some forum searches (mostly turning up older issues revolving around the DVCProHD Output component), I was able to confirm through activity monitor that Adobe QT32 Server was not responding whenever the error popped up. I tried all of the support suggestions I could find regarding QT32 server (deleting prefereneces, removing the output component, etc.), with no change in errors. I had a coworker who had also updated to 12.2 try it out, and he also received the errors, just like I had. I opened the project on another coworker's computer with 12.1 and was able to work and output without issue (output both from the Render Queue and from AME were also failing).

 

Tech details:

Footage was DVCProHD .mxf's from an HVX200, shot on greenscreen and keyed with Keylight. Footage was originally editing in Premiere Pro CC (latest version) then dynamic linked to get the timeline into AE. All remaining work was completed and output from AE (this is how I have done this entire series). Footage is being pulled from a NAS over a gigabit connection. I'm on OS X 10.9, on a 2.7 GHz i5 iMac with 10GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB:

Let me know what other information you need. I had to downgrade to 12.1 so that I could finish this project (which resolved the issue), but my coworker's computer that was experiencing the same errors is still on 12.2, so I can look at troubleshooting on it if needed for testing.

Problems importing Mpeg2 IMX files

We have problems importing Avid Mpeg2 IMX files into Adobe After Effects CC. It's a Dell computer with Windows 7 64bits. The importing footage looks like this when imported in After Effects:

We don´t know if it is a codec or hardware issue. We have installed AVID QuickTime CODECs Pack PE v2.3.7 but the problem continues. Do you know why this could happen?

Is there a time remapping issue in After Effects CC?

I use time remapping for mouth animation among other things.  I have 15 mouths that I was using with the “toggle hold keyframe” selected and “preserve frame rate when nested” box checked.  I had been working for about 12 hours (always replaying each sentence after animating it.  Out of nowhere, I went back to check the last sentence I had just animated and it was all messed up -  replaced with random mouth shapes - not the ones I chose.  Then I went back to the beginning and it changed the first several hundred time remapping key frames to the same shape.  I’m freaking now because not only did I lose the work but how do I know that if I redo it it won’t just happen randomly again?  I’m using a mid 2010 Mac Pro with 96 GB of ram.  Thanks for any info.

Premiere to AE Dynamic Link CinemaDNG Problem

Hi Guys,

I'm having a problem when I dynamic link from premiere to after effects. I have raw shot on a BMCC and edited it in Premiere Pro. It's for a greenscreen with alot of effects. So I selected all the clips in my timeline and selected make this a AE comp. The adobe camera raw settings pop up and I set the colour and it all seems fine until..... I go to play the clip! I can see it's only imported 1 frame of the entire clip. I'm not sure how to work around this problem because I want to keep my edits but also have access to indivdual clips in AE. HELP! What am I doing wrong? I tried reloading the clips in AE but it loses all the edit points.

After Effects cc not starting due to optix.1.dll error or not designed for Windows

Hi support team,

 

 

                       I cannot open after effects cc due to a problem with a optix.1.dll error . Attached is a sreen shot. I suspect is the nvidia video card that has problems.

trapcode lux

I have tried to find some specific information online about trapcode lux but its as rare as hens teeth unforunately.  Red giant dont have any community forums and Im having difficulty getting an answer from them so I was wondering if anyone here might be able to answer my question.  Im using trapcode lux for a spotlight on a wall and floor.  I have noticed that the 'set reach layer' function seems to only be able to reach one layer at a time so if I set it the wall then it goes through the floor and visa versa. Ive also noticed when I rotate the camera  I can see the light through the wall which looks stupid.  I have tried all the different settings including the material options on my 3D layers but it makes no difference.  Is this a limitation of this particular plug in?    Cheers

Media/Disk cache, etc. setup for a desktop and laptop dual configuration

Hi,

 

(New User)

I have a desktop at home, and a laptop.  I split my time about 50/50 between the two.  I use it for AE, PP, PS mainly

 

Desktop hard drive setup:

1 SSD (Currently, Windows 8 and Adobe CC installed)

2 - 1TB (7200rpm) drives (1 drive is where I put my project files (gets sync'd with google drive) and the other drive isn't being used at the moment)

 

Laptop:

1TB Hard drvie (Of course, Win 8 and Adobe CC installed)  (And, the folder where I do my projects gets sync'd with google drive).

 

As you can see, because I split my time between a laptop and desktop, I need to be working with the most current files (which is why I sync them through google drive).

 

My question is (please remember I am new), where should I set up disk cache, media cache, and anything else so that it is effecient and more importantly so I can use either my laptop or desktop to work on the same files?

 

Again, I barely know what I am talking about here.  I really don't understand what media cache, disk cache, etc. is.  I am trying to learn but I want to get this setup first so I can start with the tutorials on lynda.com.

Parenting issues

Could this be a bug of this version of After Efects ? does anyone now about it?

 

I use AE CC 12.0.0, and I've  just noticed property values issues when parenting layers. 

For instance if I have the first layer at 100,100 and the second layer at 500,500 and I decide to make the second layer the child of the first layer, I will end up with a value of 475, 475 for the child !!  And for what I know it should be 400,400 as its position should be relative to the first layer now!  

OR 

When I Shift Parent the same layers, I end up with a value of 75,75 for the child instead of 0,0. Still the layers seem to be perfectly overlapped.

 

 

Both layers have the anchor point in the center.

After effects cc is freezing 1/2 through an export in the render que.locks up and all file access areas are greyed out. having to use task manager to close and reboot. Have current up to date cloud access - any ideas how to fix

Is there a way to use Photoshop's field blur, iris blur or tilt shift blur straight on AE?

I want to use photoshop's selective blur effects on several footage. I know I might import the footage on Photoshop and just apply the effect on the video sequence, but this workflow is rather incomfortable for a whole bunch of clips.

Is there a way to use either those filters or reproduce their behavior straight on AE?
