I tried to export videos with an alpha channel in After Effects CC 2019 but it doesn't work anymore like it did in CC 2018. The alpha channel is always sold e.g. white. I guess that's a bug ... hopefully not a feature.

Premiere Pro 2019 also has Problems with ProRes 4444 files containing an alpha channel. It reads every alpha as completely solid. A project I started in CC 2018 worked fine - all alpha channels worked the way they should - now in Premiere Pro 2019 all Alpha Channels in ProRes4444 don't work anymore.

I am working an Mac with the latest version of High Sierra.

Anyone out there with similar experiences?

I've to re-create the animated logo of Audi for one of my school projects. For that, I made the logo in Illustrator and started the composition in After Effects. As of now, I've just added a few simple circles and applied the glow effect to them. But, now, when I see it, I can see some edges in the composition. Can someone tell me why I'm seeing them and how I can get rid of them. I have attached the screenshot of what the edges look like:

Should I be worried about those edges? I asked because they're not so prominent in transparent background. Also, I'm anyways going to render PNG of these (or maybe TIF) with the alpha channel and later import them into Adobe Animate.

P.S.: There are not the edges of composition due to scaling and other factors. I'm aware when it happens. I've never faced this issue before.

When I have created a composition, then for some reason I cannot see anything in my composition window. It is just BLACK.

When I first started following the instructions, from youtube, on how to create muzzle flashes, I could see my muzzleflash on top my chosen image in the

composition window. For some reason now it just shows black. Maybe I have changed some setting. I have tried to reinstall AE, but that did not help either.

HELP any advice?

PS Im a complete novice, so straight forward simple advice will be well received.

I built a picture in Illustrator and want to use it in a video and will have a camera flying around it. The problem I'm having is the quality of the picture drastically reduces when I open it in after effects. I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to maintain the crispness of the file but haven't found an answer that has worked. So I'm not sure if I did something to the file in illustrator that is causing this.

Situation: My Adobe Illustrator file contains layer folders, each of them containing 2 layers with 1 bitmap file (jpg) and 1 related clipping mask. All of the bitmap files and all of the clipping masks are different.

Action: Fixing all of the bitmap layers and activating all of the clipping masks (or clipping layers), I can move or rotate the clipping masks simultaneously. This works fine by dragging with the mouse, and with fixed values within the actions panel too.

Goal: I would like to automatically animate the motion of the clipping masks, simultaneously, along a line or circle.

How can this be done? Within Adobe Illustrator CC? Or within Adobe Animate CC? Or within Adobe After Effects? I would appreciate every hint.

Hi all,

I'm stuck and hoping someone can help, please!  I have a composition that is Custom: 1440x1080 and Pixel Aspect Ratio: DVCPRO HD 1080 (1.5).  Everything looks great on the screen and with my animation - but when I go to render (either from Render Queue or Adobe Media Encoder Queue), no matter what choices I seem to select, the rendered video is stretched and looks warped. 

From my searches, it looks like I should have started with a default Composition Preset - like HDTV 1080 25/Square Pixels.  But, when I switch to that, the footage in the image windows stretches and looks like the rendered videos.  I've tried to create a NULL Layer and link everything to that (from a different post) - with no luck.  I've also tried different settings in the Adobe Media Encoder.  I've tried doing the File->Scripts->Scale (composition/layers) - but that does the stretching as well.

Basically, I'm totally happy to keep everything as is, add more width on each side to get it to 1920 if that's what is needed. Just trying to do that without all my work stretched and scaled.

Feels like this is just a simple thing to adjust, but can't figure it out.  Any direction would be EXTREMELY appreciated!

Using cs5 AE and Illustrator.  I created an Illustrator file with text and no other layers.  I saved as with PDF box checked.  I imported this into Ae as a composition.

After importing the AI file into a comp, turning on the transparency grid shows the squares indicating to me that there should be an alpha channel present.  The background is white.

Rendering with RGB+ creates an avi movie that has a white background.  I need the text to have no background so I can overlay it onto video as credits.

I would appreciate any help with getting rid of the white background.

If you are seeing this posting, you may have encountered a crash in After Effects 16.0 (CC 2019) that we are actively investigating. We are hoping you could provide us with additional information to help us to fix it.

It appears to perhaps be related to an audio driver or audio components installed on your system.

What specific sound card and driver versions do you have installed?

Can you verify that you have the most current drivers for it installed? If not, could you attempt to update your drivers and see if that resolves the crashing situation?

If that makes no difference, could you perhaps attempt to disable the audio device temporarily and see if that resolves the crashing issue.

The other piece we can see with this crash is that all instances are occurring on Windows 10 Build Version 17134. If Windows update is available for you to move to a newer version of Windows 10, that might also possibly resolve this crashing situation.

Any details you can provide will be greatly appreciated, and will very much help us to understand and resolve this issue.

After the recent update AE launches and displays the render window but apart from preferences all other menus options are greyed out. If I close the render window the application closes. This means I can't create a new file nor will AE let me open and existing file on by double cloicking it directly. I have uninstalled and rolled back to CC but still no joy.

Looking to see if the latest AE 2018 has any form of usable multi processing back in it? We have some new machines and its insane how slow renders are compared to older rigs running 2014 with multi processing.

I have installed the cc2018 version of April 3rd, and since then my After Effect is constantly crashing.

When pre-composing files, the pre-composing crashes and freezes the application. It also does not save the file.

If you start a new comp, draw a shape layer, then create another shape layer the previous layer jumps weirdly. Keep add ing a few more shape layers and it crashes.

So can't work in new version currently.

I have a big problem for when I use the Puppet Pin Tool in After Effects.  Whenever I try to click on something, this error occurs:

Is there a solution to this?  These errors show up a lot and even cause an endless amount of them to appear sometimes.  I think it has something to do with the red circle animations that pop up when something is pinned, though I am not sure how to access that.  I am in a time crunch for I have an assignment due tonight.  Thank you!

I have to transform my clips height to 112 to get it looking right in after effects. What should i do, not long ago i did not have to transform the clip. What should i do?

From yesterday AE crashes every single time I exit the program ( pressing X or exit from the file menu ). 2019 has worked before, I was working on some projects from premiere to After Effects and now I always get this error. I have also 2018 installed which does not have this issue. Any ideas?

I can't stabilize any 360 footage using the 3D Camera Tracker from VR Comp Editor. 95% of the time, I run the analysis to create the camera for stabilization, it fails with the incredibly non-descriptive and undocumented error message "unable to acquire rendered frame." The error appears for videos of any length and any resolution. It also appears at various progress stages of the process and even within the same file (it can be at 5%, or at 55%, or at 98% completion).

At this point, I've exhausted any possible solution I could find:

• Reduced the Comp width down to 260 pixels and aspect ratio to 1:1: it speeds up processing but doesn't guarantee success even with a 6-second video
• Converted the video to sequences of JPEGs and PNGs: the success rate is slightly higher (the process is likely to complete than not) but this slows down the process exponentially (a 20-second video takes 5+ minutes to get converted into images then takes longer to analyze and re-encoded)
• Played with every combination of settings when creating the 3D Edit
• Disabled the antivirus (Windows Defender)
• Turned off all cloud syncing and took the computer offline
• Moved the source files to an M.2 SSD from RAID0 (2x7200rpm WD Black drives)
• Moved disk cache to the M.2 SSD
• Increased paging file size to 16GB
• Tried changing from CUDA to OpenCL and back

The source camera is Nikon KeyMission 360. The videos are stitched in-camera and exported as equirectangular 2:1. Tested video resolution was 3840×1920 and 3840×2160.

Computer specs: Dell XPS 8930, i7-8700, 32GB RAM @ 2667MHz, GeForce GTX 1070 8GB, AE 16.0.0 build 235 with 429 plugins.

Every single tutorial talks about how easy this feature is and has no tips for troubleshooting. I'm hoping an actual Adobe (or Mettle) developer chimes in on this.
